The fascination he experienced for the Red Planet has been growing for centuries and is now, with the presence of Opportunity and Curiosity, stronger than ever.
These islands are supposed to be formed by the action of immense floods. The ones we've picked in particular, were created by floods racing northward onto the Chryse Planitia, leaving streamlined island-mesas behind craters.
